SpeakSharp ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
- Account data: Email address and hashed password when you register.
- Audio recordings: Audio files you submit for analysis. These are stored on our servers and automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Session data: Transcripts, scores, and coaching feedback are saved to your account for session history.
- Usage data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To transcribe and analyze your speech recordings using OpenAI's API.
- To provide coaching feedback and track your progress over time.
- To send transactional emails (account verification, session reminders) if you opt in.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate SpeakSharp:
- OpenAI — audio transcription and AI coaching generation. Audio and transcript data is sent to OpenAI per their privacy policy.
- Railway — backend hosting.
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. We never store card details.
4. Data Retention
- Audio files: deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Account and session data: retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
5. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Cookies
SpeakSharp uses localStorage (not cookies) to store your session token and theme preference locally in your browser. No tracking cookies are set.
7. Children
SpeakSharp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy occasionally. Continued use of SpeakSharp after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
